Meet the 2023-2024 PTSA Board Members
Beth Downing is one of our Co-Presidents this year.
She and her husband Marlowe have two sons at Sehome, Noah is a senior and Oliver is a sophmore. She also has a daughter Joan, a sixth grader at Fairhaven.
She’s artistic and has a heart for community and volunteering.
Marlowe is also taking on the role of Co- VP of Boosters.
Flo Behrends is one of our Co-Presidents this year.
She works full-time as a consultant for a software company.
Flo has two children at Sehome, a junior and a senior and can usually be found cheering them on at a game, match, or meet throughout the year.
Tracy Bell is our Member-at-large. She, and her husband Lynn have 2 sons. Gage is a Sehome graduate and Sam is a senior this year.
Tracy has served on Wade King and Fairhaven Middle School PTA, and is a graduate of Sehome High School!
She enjoys outdoor activities, especially hiking with her 2 dogs.
Rachael Ustorf is our Secretary this year. Her son is a freshman at Sehome and plays viola with the Bellingham Youth Chamber Players. Rachael has served on the PTA at various schools; most recently as Fundraising chair at Fairhaven Middle School. In a previous life, she was a corporate recruiter and looks forward to utilizing some of her past skills in her position as secretary.
Rachael loves helping people and enjoys volunteering with the PTSA as well the Bellingham Senior Activity Center. She's also a board member of 100+Women of Whatcom, a local women's organization that raises funds for non-profit charities in Whatcom County. When not volunteering or playing chauffeur, she enjoys watercolor painting, crocheting and zipping around Bellingham with her husband, Bernd, on their Vespas. Feel free to say hi if you see them out and about!
Carol Hawk is our VP of Volunteer Coordination. Her son, Slater, is a junior and her husband Bill is a high school teacher. She has served as President on Fairhaven Middle School PTSA and Wade King Elementary PTA as well as volunteered on numerous other committees.
Carol works full time as the Chief Operating Officer at a local hospital. When not working or volunteering (or parenting) she loves to read, hike, garden, and cook.
She is excited to share her energy, experiences, and most importantly be a part of the Sehome community. Go Mariners!
Megan Peterson is excited to be your PTSA Co-VP of Fundraising.
She and her husband have an amazing daughter who is a SHS junior.
Megan is proud to be born and raised here in beautiful Bellingham, 4th generation.
Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being in nature, walking, hiking, biking, or riding her motorcycle.
Kristine is the PTSA co-Treasurer responsible for bookkeeping. She is a former biotech researcher from Seattle who moved to Bellingham with her family six years ago. She is now co-owner of a marketing and communications consulting firm with her husband, Tim.
Her son, Henry, is a junior at Sehome and daughter, Ruby, is an freshman at Sehome also. Her family also has two clownish and snuggly pugs named Arlo and Jeff.
Kristine loves volunteering her time with the PTSA because it keeps her connected with what is going on at school. She has previous experience as treasurer at Wade King and Fairhaven.
Michelle Neff is our Treasurer responsible for check writing this year. She has been on the Fairhaven Middle School PTSA for the last nine years and is so excited to join the Sehome PTSA and have her children at only one school now.
Michelle and her husband Ryan have 3 kids. Kaia is a graduate of WSU and is student teaching in Bellingham this fall. Carson graduated from Sehome in 2023 and Hudson is a sophmore at Sehome.
She loves to run and walk with friends and family! Family time and trips with just the 5 of them are her favorite thing to do. The Neff family also has a new doggy Frank, who takes up a lot of their current time.
Alyssa Johnson is one of our Co-VP of Membership and has previously served on the Wade King PTA. She is also the school nurse for Sehome, Wade King, Lowell and the Family Partnership.
She and her husband, Kevin have 4 past or present BPS students. Gabrielle and Rhianna are Sehome graduates, Annika a Sehome junior, and Mckinley is a freshman at Sehome.
Alyssa likes spending time with her family and friends, reading , and enjoy it all the Pacific NW has to offer.
